Basically, it’s more important than ever to make sure your workout is FUN–and what’s more fun than a dance party? Below are five spots in the city for a great dance cardio workout.
AKT in Motion

AKT in Motion was started by Anna Kaiser, celebrity trainer behind the bodies of Shakira, Kelly Ripa, and more. Her studios–in NoMad and Upper East Side, as well as Connecticut, LA and the Hamptons–have luxe amenities, and the dance moves have a fun hip-hop flair but will still kick your ass. Anna herself has effortless cool-girl vibes, so you’ll definitely leave with a girl crush.

DanceBody features dance classes that are dually focused on cardio and choreography–new dances debut every two months, so you have time to master the choreography and feel like a Knicks dancer. There are a number of levels so it’s a great class for dancers and newbies alike. My favorite part of this studio, though, is the down-to-earth vibe. All of the trainers are so personable and approachable, which can sometimes feel hard to find in the city. Classes are held all over the city (Tribeca, midtown, Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Union Square, Noho) and in the Hamptons.

Pon De Flo

Pon De Flo is a dance cardio class set to reggae/Caribbean music–think fun, sexy choreo and party lights. You’ll feel like you’re on a tropical vacation and might even forget about the tuck jumps and pushups mixed into the dancing! The studio is located in Little Italy.

305 Fitness mixes exercise with twerking, dropping it low, and releasing your inner vixen. After a grueling day at your desk job, you can head to a 305 class (located in West Village and Midtown East) and dance it out. This studio has follow-along style choreography, but it’s really about adding your own flair to the moves and releasing your inhibitions. Expect a tough but super fun workout!

Adam Sanford Fitness

When you want sweaty dance cardio session and a fabulous instructor pushing you through, head to Adam Sanford Fitness. ASF classes are tough but rewarding, and Adam or Spencer are right with you as your personal cheerleader. Classes are held in open studio spaces in midtown, and in addition to dance cardio, ASF offers HIIT and toning workouts.
